Bowl4All is an assistive technology project created by CU Boulder engineering students to make bowling more accessible, more independent, and easier to share with others.
We are a team of engineering students at CU Boulder building an assistive technology device to increase participation in the Special Olympics and beyond. One of our primary goals is to make this project easy for others to recreate using accessible materials and clear, simple instructions.
Adaptable to multiple types of switches and accessibility tools.
Designed with a target cost of less than $300.
Compact enough to fit inside a standard-size bowling bag.
Built to be recreated with easy-to-find materials and straightforward instructions.
Bowl4All is designed to be approachable for families, schools, teams, and future builders who want a practical and repeatable solution.
See how the concept comes together and how the design is intended to support real users in real bowling environments.

Purchase low-cost, commonly available components online or from local hardware stores.
Follow simple instructions to assemble the design with minimal tools and technical experience.
Use the finished system to create a more independent and inclusive bowling experience.
These design criteria help guide the project toward something useful, realistic, and easy to share.
Use with multiple accessibility tools and switches.
Compact design that fits within a standard bowling bag.
Easy-to-follow instructions and a design that can be replicated and modified.
Designed to withstand repeated use in bowling alley environments.
Configurable setup to accommodate different lane conditions and user needs.
Built with affordable materials to keep the total cost accessible.
Bowl4All is meant to be something real users can benefit from and future makers can actually build. That means balancing cost, durability, portability, adaptability, and ease of reproduction all at once.
